How to flip a photo in PowerPoint? The simple answer to the question is that you follow these steps:

1. Select the image or photo you want to flip

2. Navigate to Format

3. Head over to Arrange, and click Rotate

4. Select how you want to flip your photo or image – Done!

If you are a regular Google Slides user, you may know that you just need to right-click the image you want to rotate, and then choose how you want to rotate it. Unfortunately, this elegant feature is not available in PowerPoint. But of course, you can flip a photo in PowerPoint too, but the functionality is just a little more hidden.

This first method of how to flip a photo in PowerPoint, as the title implies, is that we will flip the photo. However, there are two different variants, Flip Vertical and Flip Horizontal. You can read how to do this below.

I do not use this feature very often, as you simply turn the image upside down. It can be useful if you have any shape, such as an arrow, that you want to flip over. Or if you have taken a photo with your smartphone, which has been turned upside down after importing it to your computer.

Flip Horizontal

Flip a photo horizontally is something I do all the time in PowerPoint. Sometimes I think it’s nice to have pictures with objects on one side as background, and then add text over on the other side. See the image below, and you understand what I mean.

For some reason, I always think it seems best to have the text on the left, don’t ask me why. Of course, not all photos are arranged in a way that allows the elements to be placed to the left. However, there is no problem – use the Flip Horizontal feature.

Flip a Photo in PowerPoint by Using the “Rotate” Feature

Now you have learned how to flip a photo in PowerPoint using the Flip feature. Just as you can flip photos, you can also rotate photos in PowerPoint. The process is basically the same, except that you select Rotate in step 4.

1. Select the image or photo you want to flip

2. Navigate to Picture Format

This can also be a useful method if you want to flip photos into PowerPoint, which has been misaligned when importing your photos from your camera or smartphone. Furthermore, if you have an arrow or another shape that you want to rotate, this is also an excellent method.
