Then you are not alone, for many, PowerPoint is a necessary evil\nthat takes a lot of time. However, the fact is that anyone can learn PowerPoint\nand be good at it. In this article, we will talk about the basics and guide you\nthrough the most important features. Once you have mastered these you will be\nmuch faster and be able to create much nicer presentations. Each tab has a variety of\nfeatures that may seem overwhelming, but don&#8217;t worry about it! We will not go\nthrough all the tabs, just the most fundamental ones. Today we will talk about\nthe most important parts that you will learn in no time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"799\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/yourslidebuddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SnapCrab_NoName_2019-9-15_15-37-34_No-00.png\" alt=\"the basics of powerpoint 2\" class=\"wp-image-17\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yourslidebuddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SnapCrab_NoName_2019-9-15_15-37-34_No-00.png 799w, https:\/\/www.yourslidebuddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SnapCrab_NoName_2019-9-15_15-37-34_No-00-300x15.png 300w, https:\/\/www.yourslidebuddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SnapCrab_NoName_2019-9-15_15-37-34_No-00-768x38.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 799px) 100vw, 799px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>However, here comes a\nbrief description of all the tabs, so you have a little check on these before we delve into the\ndetails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>File:<\/strong> The major features of this tab are\nto create a new presentation, open an already existing presentation, save,\nprint presentation, and share slide shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Home:<\/strong> Here you will find a variety of\nfunctions such as creating a new slide, changing the font and text size, and\nchanging paragraph settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Insert:<\/strong> Here you can insert slides, tables,\ndifferent types of images and illustrations, comments, links and different\ntypes of other media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Design<\/strong>: Here you can be creative and\nchoose different themes, edit layouts for slides, even get suggestions of\nPowerPoint on different design ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transitions:<\/strong> Here you can work on transitions,\ni.e. what happens when you go from one slide to another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Animations<\/strong>: Animate different elements, maybe\na text box should fly in from the right, or maybe you want different pieces of\ntext to appear when you click the mouse (ideal for different lists).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Slide Show<\/strong>: Start your presentation and choose\nhow it will appear if you have multiple monitors, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Review<\/strong>: Use proofreading tools, choose\nwhich language you want to use, or add comments to remember something, or leave\na comment to someone you work within the presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>View<\/strong>: A bit more advanced settings for\nworking with different macros, change the presentation view, etc. This is not\nsomething you need to worry about as a basic user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Help<\/strong>: This is an underrated part of\nPowerPoint. Here you can search for help and usually you will find answers\nregarding the basics of PowerPoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To Create a\nPowerPoint Presentation<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Now we have created an\noverview of the functions in PowerPoint, and now we will apply some of these\nand build a basic but good presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you start PowerPoint, a menu often pops up where you get a few choices. Here you select <strong>Blank Presentation<\/strong>. You\nhave now created a presentation, now it is time to fill it with content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Create a New Slide\nand Fill it With Content<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Sweet, you are one step closer to master the basics of PowerPoint! Now you have a new presentation and a title slide, now it&#8217;s time to create your first own slide. If you don&#8217;t already have <strong>Home Tab<\/strong> checked, do it. Now click on <strong>New Slide<\/strong>. Now\nit&#8217;s time to give the slide a little more life by adding its own text box and\nshape. Let&#8217;s start by adding a new text box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to the <strong>Insert\nTab<\/strong> and then look a bit to the right where you see the <strong>Text Box<\/strong>\nicon. Still, on the <strong>Insert Tab<\/strong>, navigate to the shapes icon and click it. Here you get a lot of different suggestions on shapes to incorporate into the presentation. If you navigate to <strong>Slide Show Tab<\/strong> or click <strong>F5<\/strong>, you can see\nwhat the presentation will look like. You navigate between your slides with the\narrow keys, space bar, or click the mouse. Test this. Surely the transitions\nbetween slides feel a little boring. Here you will find a few different\noptions for transitions, click through the different ones and choose one that\nyou think is good. Keep in mind that different types of transitions will fit\nbetter or worse in different situations. A super cool transition with lots of\neffects might fit very well in the classroom, but less well at a board meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Animations<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Surely, we have all\nseen PowerPoint presentation with different objects popping up in lots of cool\nways and always wondered how to do this? It&#8217;s a lot easier than you think &#8211;\nlet&#8217;s make some animations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We chose to insert an\narrow into the slide to emphasize the text. To further emphasize this, it would\nhave been nice if the arrow came in after the text \u2013 let\u2019s fix this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to the <strong>Animations\nTab<\/strong>. Now you may notice that this looks almost the same as the <strong>Transitions\nTab<\/strong>, it&#8217;s because it works almost the same. Instead of selecting the slide\nyou want to create a transition to, select the object or text box that you want\nto animate. Click on the object you want to animate, and then test different\ntypes of animations in the <strong>Animations Pane<\/strong>. If you look at the far left you see an icon\ncalled <strong>Preview<\/strong>, click on this and you can see how the animation will appear\nin the slide. In my case, the arrow flies in from the bottom, which doesn&#8217;t\nsuit me so well when the arrow points to the text. However, this is easily\nfixed. On the right-hand side of all the animation styles, there is an icon\ncalled <strong>Effect Options<\/strong>. Now we\nhave built a basic, but very good PowerPoint slide. Now just follow the same\nprinciple for the rest of the slides you need to include in your presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are\nsatisfied, it is time to present. As we mentioned earlier, you can do this in\nslightly different ways.
